Humanitarian Affairs

IPI’s Humanitarian Affairs Program, established in 2012, aims to foster knowledge and action on how to adapt the international humanitarian system to changing realities through a mix of policy research and analysis, convening, and dialogue. It provides a broad platform for the humanitarian community in New York to exchange views outside of official fora and to better inform the debate on major challenges for humanitarian action. It further aims to engage countries and humanitarian actors from the Global South, including practitioners, in reflections and discussions on humanitarian aid, thereby contributing to a more inclusive and universal system.

In this regard, the program works closely with humanitarian organizations in New York including the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Action, UN member states, and academic circles. It also endeavors to develop links with overseas organizations and think tanks active in the humanitarian arena.
