IPI Launches Task Forces on Strengthening Multilateral Capacity

On February 7-8, IPI (formerly International Peace Academy) launched a new initiative, the Task Forces on Strengthening Multilateral Security Capacity, with an opening symposium on “Development, Resources, and Environment: Defining Challenges for the Security Agenda.” This high-level two-day meeting, held at the Greentree Foundation Conference Center in Long Island, New York, gathered approximately twenty representatives from UN Member States, including many Permanent Representatives, and a select number of international scholars and experts.

IPI President Delivers Speech at the World Affairs Council, San Francisco

IPI’s President, Terje Rød-Larsen, addressed the World Affairs Council in San Francisco on 10 January 2008. Speaking on his long-term perspectives on resolving the Middle East crisis, Terje Rød-Larsen engaged with the topic of “Coping with Crisis in the Middle East: Four Epicenters of Instability.”

IPI Recognized as Top Ranked New York-Based Nonprofit

In the December 3rd issue of New York Magazine, the International Peace Academy now known as International Peace Institute was highlighted as a top ranked New York-based nonprofit. Listed with groups such as Doctors Without Borders USA and the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the International Peace Institute was featured based on its overall rating by the American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP).
