Partners
Issues of peace, security, and conflict, especially in the contemporary world, can only be addressed effectively by harnessing the skills, insights, and resources of a variety of actors.
International Peace Institute, IPI ( formerly International Peace Academy ) is fortunate to have a long-standing track record of successful engagement with constituents and partners. IPI maintains a wide international network of informal partners from academia, NGOs, governments, and international organizations with the goal of facilitating a vital exchange of knowledge, experience, and information among those different sectors.
While our most immediate audience is the UN system and senior Member State representatives in New York, IPI maintains a close working relationship with a network of think tanks in North America, Africa, Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and the Pacific, collaborating with them repeatedly on specific projects. Most of these partnerships are not institutionalized but rather involve IPI’s interacting closely with individuals in these organizations. Knowledge transfer frequently works both ways, often with IPI functioning principally as a ‘bridge’ between different communities of expertise and experience. With many academic institutions, one of IPI’s main roles is to help ‘translate’ scholarly analysis into policy-relevant inputs and to help channel analysis and advice into the policymaking process at the UN and other inter-governmental organizations.
