2005 New York Seminar
Partnerships for Peace in Africa

This year’s seminar was held from May 2-5th at the Thayer Hotel, West Point. The objective of the 2005 IPA New York Seminar was to deepen and broaden the knowledge and expertise of participants on critical policy issues relating to Peace Operations in Africa, to provide a forum where participants can compare different regional and national experiences, share their insights, and develop their professional relationships, and to create a well-informed, worldwide leadership cadre of policy-makers and practitioners who have a broad, sophisticated understanding of peacemaking and peacekeeping and are well-equipped both to make policy and to lead operations in the field.

The 2004 IPA New York Seminar

The seminar was held from May 3-7 at The Thayer Hotel, West Point. This year’s seminar was structured around IPA Security-Development Program and it sought

  • To deepen and broaden the knowledge and expertise of participants on critical policy issues relating to Security and Development
  • To provide a forum where participants can compare different regional and national experiences, share their insights, and develop their professional relationships and
  • To create a well-informed, worldwide leadership cadre of policy-makers and practitioners who have a broad, sophisticated understanding of peacemaking and peacekeeping and are well equipped both to make policy and to lead operations in the field.

As in past years, the seminar composed of highly experienced and senior level speakers and discussants, as well as selected members of the New York diplomatic community, UN Secretariat, UN Agencies, NGOs and media.
