Management of UN Peace Operations
This study’s primary aim is to provide ideas and input to the ongoing efforts of the UN Secretary-General and his senior managers to produce a more coherent, efficient, and responsive world organization in the field of peace and security. The study seeks to do so by identifying critical challenges in the area of organization and management that influence the effectiveness of the UN in the field and then by developing recommendations for effective management of UN peace operations.
The first track of work focuses on headquarters management and support to operations, as well as field management. The level of analysis is both strategic and operational, and focuses on four key management activities: planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring.
