IPI Support During the High-level Panel

Early on in the High-level Panel’s work, IPI organized a series of retreats at the Greentree Estate outside Manhattan, gathering key UN ambassadors, members of the High-level Panel, and its research staff for an informal and off-the-record exchange on the panel’s work. These ‘Greentree retreats’, organized in close cooperation with the governments of Australia, Mexico, the Netherlands, Singapore, and South Africa, offered an important opportunity for Member States to share concerns and suggestions with the Panel [see issues for discussion paper and meeting report] .

IPI also organized seminars and conferences geared towards channeling expert advice on specific issues into the work of the Panel’s research staff, for instance on statebuilding [see report] and weapons of mass destruction [see issues for discussion paper and meeting report] .

Finally, two of IPI’s Senior staff, Dr. Waheguru Pal Singh Sidhu and Dr. Adekeye Adebajo, served as academic advisors to the High-level Panel. IPI staff member Sebastian von Einsiedel also served on the panel’s research staff.
