On October 10-11, 2013, IPI hosted a fourth seminar on the role of Francophone countries in peacekeeping in New York to conclude a cycle of conferences co-organized by the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie (OIF), the French Ministry of Defense’s Délégation aux Affaires stratégiques (DAS), the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ Direction de la Coopération de Sécurité et de Défense (DCSD) and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy (GCSP).

Mozambicans’ focus on local ownership, aided by the Community of Sant’Egidio’s facilitation efforts, transformed Mozambique from a country ravaged by civil war into a possible model for sustainable peace.
