On Friday, February 25, 2011, the International Peace Institute and the Permanent Mission of New Zealand to the UN, in collaboration with the School of Law at the University of Essex, held a policy forum to consider the issue of reviewing the 1990 United Nations Model Status of Forces Agreement (Model SOFA) to better address today’s UN peacekeeping challenges.

Ed Luck: Crimes Against Humanity May Have Occurred in Libya

Asked on Al Jazeera on February 23rd if crimes against humanity were being committed in Libya, Dr. Edward C. Luck, IPI Senior Vice President for Research and Programs, said that though "we don't have direct access, there is certainly good reason to believe" they were.

On February 1, 2011, The International Peace Institute (IPI), the Permanent Mission of Norway to the United Nations, and the Permanent Mission of Uruguay to the United Nations held a working lunch roundtable discussion to launch, “The Friends of Delivering as One: Towards a More Relevant, Coherent, and Efficient UN at Country Level.”
