Special Representative of the Secretary-General Atul Khare Discusses UN Efforts in Timor-Leste

On August 20, 2008, Special Representative of the Secretary-General (SRSG) for Timor-Leste and Head of the United Nations Integrated Mission in Timor-Leste Mr. Atul Khare addressed a select group of diplomats and other members of the United Nations and NGO communities in IPI’s Trygve Lie Center. In providing an informative account of UN statebuilding support efforts in Timor-Leste, he discussed the challenges associated with the raw scars of conflict in a country trying to rebuild its institutions and identity.

The World Drug Report 2008, compiled and published by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), was launched last week at the International Peace Institute’s Trygve Lie Center with a lunchtime event that attracted staff from UN Missions, the UN Secretariat, funds and agencies, and other members of New York’s international affairs community.
