Video: Building Peace at the Nexus of Organized Crime, Conflict, and Extremism

On November 13th, IPI together with the Folke Bernadotte Academy, the SecDev Foundation, and the Center for International Peace Operations-ZIF, hosted a one-day workshop exploring the complex ways organized crime, conflict, and extremism interact and pose threats to peace, reflecting on how to devise effective responses, in particular for multilateral peace operations and peacebuilding actors.

IPI Remembers Margaret Vogt

Margaret was first and foremost a scholar and researcher at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs. She subsequently became an important voice (leader) at the African Union and the United Nations in the decades long promotion of conflict resolution and the advancement of women’s rights in Africa. She passed away on September 23, 2014.

New IPI Documentary Film on Past and Future of International Affairs

As part of its work on advocating and implementing lessons learned from 1814 and 1914 for today, the International Peace Institute, with the support of Canada and Norway, has created a short documentary film entitled "Architects and Sleepwalkers."

IPI’s Hoge Al Jazeera Interview on Gaza, the UN and Press Coverage

Warren Hoge, IPI Senior Adviser for External Relations, tells Al Jazeera America that an imminent ceasefire in Gaza is unlikely because of the unwillingness of both sides in the conflict, Israel and Hamas, to accept one, and the difficulty that poses for UN and US efforts to obtain a halt in the fighting.
