On November 11th, the International Peace Institute hosted an evening reception with Dexter Filkins, who discussed his experiences as a war correspondent in Afghanistan and in Iraq.
Dexter Filkins presented his book, The Forever War (Knopf 2008), a breathtaking account of the events that began with the rise of the Taliban in the 1990s, continued with the attacks of 9/11, and moved on to the wars in Afghanistan and in Iraq.
The discussion was moderated by Warren Hoge, IPI Vice President and Director of External Relations.
The meeting was part of Beyond the Headlines, a series of evening discussions hosted by the International Peace Institute for experts from Permanent Missions to the UN and other members of the UN community.
