The World Food Programme and the International Peace Institute held a discussion titled, “Leveraging Innovative Food Assistance Tools for Emergency Relief and Hunger Solutions” on Wednesday, September 22nd where experts discussed innovative food-aid programs that support smallholder farmers and existing local markets in an effort to bolster local food supplies.
Participants included Josette Sheeran, Executive Director, World Food Programme; Baroness Valerie Amos, Under Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator, Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA); and António Guterres, United Nations Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
