Meet the Candidates for UN Secretary-General

On October 6, 2016, the UN Security Council unanimously voted for António Guterres as the next UN Secretary-General, and his appointment was confirmed by the UN General Assembly on October 13th. The five-year term begins January 1st.

In the months leading up to that vote, IPI hosted personal conversations with each of the candidates. They are listed below in order of appearance at IPI. All official candidates were extended an invitation.
