Jon Benitez joined the International Peace Institute as the Events Manager in May 2018. He manages IPI’s events team and oversees the organization of all IPI meetings and events.
Prior to joining IPI, Jon worked at Concordia where he gained a wealth of project management and event planning experience. At Concordia, he oversaw the design and planning of partnership-building events ranging from policy-oriented dinners to Concordia’s annual Summit. Jon has also worked on organizing many global events, and cross-sector events featuring more than 50 heads of state.
He is an alumnus of The State University of New York at Buffalo and holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. A native of Levittown, New York, Jon is a native Spanish speaker and holds dual citizenship in the United States and Colombia.
In 2019, the Global Observatory continued publishing in-depth article series on a range of topics including climate change, protection of civilians, LGBTI rights, July’s High-Level Political Forum, and women, peace, and security.
