Samir Ashraf is the associate editor and head of the Global Observatory at IPI. He manages the daily operation of the Global Observatory and the review, solicitation, and editing of all articles and interviews.
Samir has over a decade of experience as an editor and communications manager in human rights, international development, and current affairs. His work has taken him to New York, India, Mozambique, and Israel.
He received a Master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia University, with a focus on development and conflict resolution, and earned his Bachelor’s degree in religious studies and mathematics from New York University.
The International Peace Institute is an independent, international not-for-profit think tank with a staff representing more than 20 nationalities, located in New York across from United Nations headquarters.
IPI is dedicated to promoting the prevention and resolution of conflicts between and within states by strengthening international peace and security institutions.
To achieve its purpose, IPI employs a mix of policy research, convening, publishing and outreach.
