In partnership with the Peacebuilding Support Office, the International Peace Academy and the Center on International Cooperation organized an informal seminar on integrated peacebuilding strategies.
Among the Peacebuilding Commission’s main responsibilities is to “advise and propose integrated strategies for post-conflict recovery focusing attention on reconstruction, institution-building and sustainable development, in countries emerging from conflict.” Yet what constitutes an “integrated peacebuilding strategy” is not yet clear, and the PBC needs to determine its real value added in giving strategic advice in specific conflict situations. The purpose of this meeting was to provide an informal forum to discuss the elements of integrated peacebuilding strategies as well as the Peacebuilding Commission’s comparative advantage in advising on peacebuilding strategy.
