Experts have highlighted that the Latin America and Caribbean region is unique in that several countries’ care policies are situated within their gender equality policies (encompassing a root cause approach) rather than being siloed within economic and poverty reduction policies. Andres Pena joined IPI in the fall of 2008, and works in the Finance and Administration department, supporting the events team and carrying out various facilities tasks.
Before joining IPI, Andres worked as a biology, science, and Spanish teacher in England and Colombia. He has also worked with a variety of environmental and social organizations. Andres graduated from Universidad del Valle, Colombia, with a BA in biology. He specialized in botany.
A native of Colombia, Andres speaks Spanish and English fluently, and is learning Portuguese.
