Staff Zelia Herrera
Zelia G. Herrera joined IPI in 1994. As Senior Director of Finance and Administration, she is charged with the daily operations of the office as well as managing Human Resources. In IPI's accounting and financial areas, she is responsible for the preparation and monitoring of administrative, personnel, and technology budgets, consolidation and monitoring of the organizational annual budget, and implementation and upgrades of systems and policies. She also oversees the preparation of the annual audit, as well as reporting to funders and the Board of Directors.
Previously, Zelia was a secretary for an import/export business in Great Neck, NY. A native of Brazil, Zelia also managed retail stores in that country.
Zelia has a bachelor's degree in accounting and economics from the City University of New York-Queens College and a certificate of human resources management from the School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) at New York University. In the future, Zelia plans to pursue an MBA.
Her professional interests include human resources management, information systems, and management of system networking. She expects to continue working in the nonprofit sector, where her business and administrative skills can have a positive influence on social causes. She speaks Portuguese and Spanish.
