On October 8th, the International Peace Institute convened a “Multistakeholder Consultation on Chad,” together with the United States Institute of Peace and Caring for Kaela, a Chadian advocacy organization.
With fifty participants drawn from diverse backgrounds–including African ambassadors, representatives of the African Union , the European Union, and the United Nations Secretariat, as well as members of the Chadian diaspora–this event highlighted the importance of a regional approach, and examined the complex dynamics among the five different UN peace operations in the region, as well as the serious resource constraints facing UN peace operations worldwide.
